Mi hijito,
You had so many nicknames...! When you were little, I called you "pumpkin pie" and you just accepted it as one of your names. Around your third or fourth Thanksgiving, I baked pumpkin pies and stored them in the fridge. You opened up the fridge and I reminded you not to touch the pumpkin pies. You closed the door, stared at it a few seconds, opened it up and looked inside again, then looked at me and asked, "Is that like me, Mom?" I had not realized up until that point that you would one day make a connection between a real pumpkin pie and your nickname. I laughed so hard......and then explained that it was only a nickname.
Your tia Mocha, who took care of you as a baby, came up with "Lonz", short for Alonzo. Again about age 4,we were visiting Rosie, a church choir singer in New Braunfels, and her daughter, who was about a year older than you at the time. We introduced you two to each other and you two went off to play. Awhile later, she came to us, asking where "Lunchpak" was. I was bewildered....Lunchpak? "You know! Your little boy!"
So there is how you acquired a new nickname.
Roy could not remember Lunchpack, so he called you Lunch bucket, or bucket for short.
It is a wonder you could keep track of all of your nicknames!!!
You just smiled and took them all in stride because you knew we loved you.
We still do. And we always will.
